Squeeze are one of the most successful British groups of all time with a string of hit singles stretching from the late seventies to the mid-nineties, all penned by the songwriting duo of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook. Founding member Jools Holland had two stints with the band and appeared on six of their studio albums. Difford & Tilbrook reformed the band in 2007 and have continued to tour steadily ever since. Essential Squeeze brings together the original videos for 24 of their classic hits spanning their career. These guys were bigger over in their country than here in the US, and that's too bad for us because they were a fantastically talented 80's pop band. The only two tunes I remember hearing around their original release dates were "Pulling Mussels (From A Shell)", and of course, "Tempted". Enjoyed these tunes, but for some strange reason, I never pursued them further. After many years, I picked up "Squeeze: Singles - 45's and under" and was blown away by how great they were. Now, many years after those many years (yikes), I got this video, and it's the cat's PJs.You get 24 promo videos PLUS a live concert from 1982.The video quality is about what you'd expect from that time - old square TV format, grainy, amateurish, and shot on a budget, but not without its charms - quite entertaining actually. What shines through is the the sound quality, though. No scrimping there - it's excellent. If you're a fan of 80's pop, this DVD is well worth hunting down. :)
