I have a large collection of classic books by, about, and illustrated by Dali. Almost every book in my Dali collection is long since out-of-print. So, I was very skeptical that this book published in modern times could have anything new to offer me.Imagine my surprise when I found in this book a number of watercolor and oil paintings that I have never seen before! At least two of the oil paintings ("portrait of Mme. Reese" and "They Were There" both 1931) aren't even in Descharnes and Neret's tome "Dali: The Paintings" nor do I find them in any other publication I own or on the internet. Bradbury claims these are Dali paintings, so who am I to argue? In any case, there are a number of additional images in this book that I have never seen before, and that is something special for a fan of Dali. The layout is fantastic. A full-page reproduction is accompanied by descriptive text on the facing page. Bradbury's commentary on each painting sticks to relevant factual observations for the most part. One cool thing she does is to point out continuity in the images and she provides additional pictorial examples to go along with the text.Overall, I am very impressed with this book. It has excellent images, from the typical to the never-before-seen, the text is clear and concise, and the colors and printing are excellent for the most part. I highly recommend this book to any new or experienced fan of Salvador Dali's work.
